Emma Jory – Studio Owner

My love of Pilates was ignited more than 14 years ago when I tried my first session. I realised then than I had been practising the essence of Pilates since I began dancing at age five.

My passion for discovering and sharing the complexities of the body, as well as the knowledge and self empowerment Pilates gives us, led to my career change from the corporate world, in order to focus on Pilates. Since then, I have been teaching and managing studios around Australia, working with clients of all ages and fitness levels. I have worked along side physiotherapists to rehabilitate clients from injury, and continue to have a holistic approach to my teaching, working closely with physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and masseaurs, to ensure my clients recieve the best treatments possible. My own personal injury rehabilitation enables me to empathise with my clients who are also in a similar situation.

The thing I love most about teaching Pilates is helping people find greater body awareness, and being a part of their journey of self-discovery. I have a great sense of fulfilment when I see my clients progress and improve their strength and posture, and reduce pain.

Emergy Pilates Lounge came to life almost four years ago, from my desire to create a warm and inviting space, where people could enjoy and share my passion.

I now enjoy mentoring others, and continue to expand my own knowledge through study and international travel. I stay in touch with the forefront of the fitness industry and introduce new exercise methods from my travels such as the Xtend Barre Workout.  Emergy Pilates Lounge is proud to have debuted Xtend Barre in Australia.

I am STOTT PILATES Internationally Certified, a registered Fitness Instructor with FIA, NLP & Reiki Practitioner, the first instructor to teach Xtend Barre workout in Australia, and an Xtend Barre Instructor Trainer. I also own and operate Tamarama Pilates at Tamarama Surf Club.

Julia Keast – Pilates & Xtend Barre Instructor

I started training in all facets of dance from the age of four.  I went on to work as a professional dancer for 14 years here in Australia and also in France, Italy and Sweden.  My love of dance and the discipline required to become a dancer brought me to Pilates and through this I discovered how to train the mind and body and gain strength and flexibility.

While practicing Pilates I completed my diploma of remedial massage and started to work more closely with rehabilitation and injuries. I quickly realised to make a difference to someone’s muscles, posture, injuries, strengths and quality of life, Pilates is fundamental.

I began teacher training with STOTT International Pilates and now I work teaching Pilates, dance and practicing massage. I love working with Emma at Emergy, she is such a supportive and nurturing mentor and creates a wonderful working environment.
